Howzit

The Daubney family has been a part of the fabric of Bloemfontein for over 100 years. My Great-grandfather and Grandfather owned a flour mill and Daubney’s Day & Night Service Station. My Father John Stuart Daubney was born in 1945, after completing school in 1963 he joined the family business.

My Dad’s love for cooking and dream to open his own eatery drew him to working in a Fish & Chip shop in 1967 and then in 1969 he joined The President Hotel as a pastry chef. Events thereafter lead him into the locksmithing industry for the rest of his life, apart from one last attempt in 1995.

My Dad’s love for food never ended, his passion to cook would always be a part of his family and friends’ lives throughout the years. My Father passed in 2007 unfortunately never opening his own eatery.

In September 2019 the concept of Johnny Lucky was born.
